I wanted to be Britney, Whitney & JLo - Alexandra Loonin
I wanted to be Britney, Whitney & JLo by Alexandra Loonin is a monologue about pop divas, femininity and gender. When a young man met with attacks on his life and sexuality at family dinner he ends up locking himself in the bathroom. In the safety of a private space he looks back on the wants, needs and desires of growing up, turning to pop divas for comfort and understanding. In a sensitive, rhythmic manner the play walks us through a coming of age story with all it’s highs and lows. A celebration and recognition of the female role models so many of us share, and the Juicy Couture velour tracksuits they wore, I wanted to be Britney, Whitney & JLo is a play about survival.
