Beefy - Alma Lindé

Beefy Bengtsson is obsessed with working out. Through relentless physical training, a disciplined lifestyle, and absurd amounts of quark, she inches closer every day to her ultimate goal: having the biggest arms in the world. But as Beefy ’s arms grow bigger, her relationship with her mother, Gerd Bengtsson, grows worse. Back in her youth, Gerd was even beefier than Beefy and she also dreamt of a career as a bodybuilder. But life had other plans. When she unexpectedly became a single mum, Gerd felt the need to create a more stable life for her family. So, she swapped her dumbbells for a crowbar and took up a career in burglary. In the “locksmithing business”, Gerd developed her unique set of values and her own moral compass, best summed up as: It’s not me—it’s you. Now officially retired, she spends most of her days chain-smoking and sunbathing.

Beefy finds her mother’s unhealthy lifestyle infuriating. She despises Gerd’s values, her laziness, and her bad influence on her little brother, Kenny, who still lives at home. In her eyes, it would be better to have no mum at all than one like Gerd. Gerd, however, has lived long enough to know one thing: no one tells her what to do. Stuck in the middle of their constant battle is Kenny, who just wants a family that gets along.

But when the mastermind villain Tjoffe entombs the entire world in concrete as part of his plan to seize control of 96% of Earth’s resources, the Bengtsson family is forced into an unexpected reunion. With no other choice, Beefy and Gerd must team up and work side by side to secure the future of the Bengtsson family.
